hotel. (we can provide flights from Brisbane or Cairns)

Today will include sightseeing around Port Moresby.

3 Saturday 25th April 2008 (ANZAC DAY)
Port Moresby (B)
This morning you wake early and are transferred to the Bomana
War Cemetery for the dawn service. You will also be involved
in the festivities of the morning.
This afternoon you will have the option of visiting Sogeri
and Owers Corner, which is the beginning of the Kokoda Track.
The area provides great views of the lush vegetation and historical
war relics.

4 Sunday 26th April
Port Moresby (B)
This morning you are transferred back to the airport for your
flight home.
Extension
to Milne Bay
Day 4 Sunday 26th April 2008
Port Moresby Alotau (B)
This morning you will be transferred to the airport for your
flight to Alotau (Milne Bay). On arrival you are met and transferred
to your hotel. After checking in you begin your sightseeing
tour around Milne Bay to the beaches of Ahioma where war barge
wrecks still stand. Toptown Lookout where you can take a photograph
of the panoramic view of Milne Bay. You will be shown the
Alotau Market, the town centre, the Alotau War Memorial, Alotau
Hospital Alotau Cathedral and Anglican Church are all situated.
Rabe Village and experience Milne Bay culture first hand,
sample local delicacies and learn about traditional customs.
Also artifact shopping where you will have the opportunity
to collect authentic Milne Bay quality artefacts, which includes
carved bowls, clay pots, Trobriand grass skirts and woven
baskets.
Day 5 Monday 27th April
Alotau (B)
Today you visit WW2 sights of the area including Turnbull
War Memorial, visit Nigila and experience the privilege of
accessing privately owned land where six American landing
barges were “dumped”, 1km from the shore. Wahuhuba
Bay, which is the site where the Japanese first landed, and
the first exchange of gun fire in the Battle of Milne Bay
took place. Corporal John French Memorial at Goilani River,
KB Mission, where some of the most confused and fierce fighting
in the battle of Milne Bay took place and Giligili where the
remains of the wharf believed to be used by American troops
during WWII for fuel loading.
Day 6 Tuesday 28th April
Alotau Port Moresby (B)
This morning you are transferred back to the airport for your
flight to Port Moresby. On arrival you are transferred to
your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure.

7 Wednesday 29th April
Port Moresby (B)
This morning you are transferred to the airport for your flight
home.
