Day 1 Wednesday 20th April
Australia - HCM City (Saigon) (D)
On arrival in Saigon you are met at the airport and transferred to your central city hotel. After freshening up you are taken on an orientation tour of this vibrant city. This evening there is a group welcome dinner.
Day 2 Thursday 21st April
Saigon City Tour (B)
Commencing your tour of this historic city you visit many landmarks, including the Post Office, Notre Dame Cathedral, built by the French in 1877, former Presidential Palace, War Remnants Museum, Cholon, the Binh Tay market, Father Tam’s Catholic Church where President Ngo Dinh Diem and his brother hid themselves in 1963, and the Ben Thanh Markets, where your bartering skills will be tested.
Day 3 Friday 22nd April
Saigon - Vung Tau (B L)
This morning you journey south by hydrofoil to Vung Tau. After booking into your hotel you take a tour of this seaside resort and visit the White Villa, the former area known as “Flags” , the magnificent beach located across the road from where the Peter Badcoe club once stood and the VC Memorial located where 1 ALSG once was. Lunch is provided and the remainder of your day is free to laze by the pool, shop or continue your sight seeing.
Day 4 Saturday 23rd April
Vung Tau – Baria – Dat Do – Long Hais (B L)
After visiting the fishing village along the sea front, you travel northeast to the township of Baria, the Dat Do Warrior graveyard, Long Hais and former Minh Dam Secret Zone. A boxed lunch is provided and you return to Vung Tau mid afternoon.
Day 5 Sunday 24th April
Vung Tau - Nui Dat – Long Phouc - Hoa Long (B L)
After breakfast you travel north to Nui Dat passing what is left of the Horseshoe on the way. (The Horseshoe was mined several years ago and entry is no longer allowed) Whilst few remnants remain of the former Task Force Base, plenty of time is allowed to explore the area and visit the local school, which is in need of repair and is situated at the end of what was once the Luscombe Airstrip. After visiting the township of Hoa Long, you lunch at the Long Phuoc Tunnels and then make your way back to Vung Tau.
Day 6 Monday 25th April
ANZAC Day
Vung Tau - Long Tan (B)
Following the Dawn Service at Long Tan you return to the hotel for breakfast. The remainder of the day is at leisure.
Day 7 Tuesday 26th April
Vung Tau - Binh Ba - Saigon (B)
This morning you make your way back to Saigon via the village of Binh Ba. A refreshment stop is made and you should be back in the city of Saigon by lunch time. After booking into your hotel the remainder of the day is at leisure.
Day 8 Wednesday 27th April
Saigon – Cu Chi Tunnels (B L)
Today you visit the former underground VC village known as Cu Chi, which lies northwest of Saigon. After watching a video filmed by the Vietnamese during the American war, you view and explore the widened tunnel systems. For those slim, fit and daring enough you can crawl along some of the original tunnels. (Please note that the rifle range is closed and the reopening date is not known) Lunch is provided alongside the picturesque river and you return to Saigon early afternoon.

Saigon – Australia (B)
Today you are transferred to the airport for your flight home.

Saigon - Mekong Delta – Ben Tre - Dong Nam (B L)
After breakfast you take a scenic drive south to the Mekong Delta and Ben Tre. On arrival you board your private boat and travel the tributaries to one of the more spectacular Islands. After exploring the Island on a horse drawn cart you stop for refreshments and then board an oared Sampan and travel along the peaceful canals under the shadows of the water coconut trees. Lunch is at the spectacular Mekong restaurant and providing the weather allows you then visit the Dong Tam snake breeding farm and zoo, before making the return journey to Saigon.
Day 10 Friday 29th April
Danang – Hoi An (B)
This morning you board your flight north to Danang. You are met at the airport and then driven the short distance south to the former trading port of Hoi An, which still retains the feel of centuries past. After booking into your hotel you take a walking tour along the narrow streets and cross the 400 year old Japanese covered bridge and visit ancient houses, galleries and a silk tailor shop. Experience has taught us that most travellers will spend the afternoon in the tailor shops getting measured for suits, shirts, blouses, dresses etc. The remainder can continue to explore this historic township full of shops and galleries or return to the hotel and relax around the magnificent pool. This evening you might like to dine out in one of the many river side restaurants.
Day 11 Saturday 30th April
Hoi An – My Son – Kim Bong (B L)
After breakfast you drive south west to My Son, located in Quang Nam Province. The Champa ruins of My Son date from the 4th to the 13th centuries and represent a series of constructions. After viewing the ruins you make your way to Cau Lau Bridge and board your private boat for a cruise on the Thu Bon River to the Kim Bong wood carving village for lunch. After a restful lunch you explore the village and visit a wood carving shop. You make the scenic return to Hoi An aboard your private boat.
Day 12 Sunday 1st May
Hoi An – Danang – Hue (B L)
This morning you take the short drive to Danang to visit the unique Marble Mountains. Providing the weather and your fitness allows you can at your pace make the long climb to the top and enter Huyen Khong cave. You will be rewarded with magnificent views of Danang, the surrounding mountains and China beach. Those unable to make the climb can visit the marble factory to watch the creation and completion of the hundreds of different statues all available for sale. Next you visit the Cham museum with its artifacts dating from the 7th to the 15th centuries and then cross the stunning Hai Van Pass to Lang Co beach where you stop for lunch. After lunch you continue the journey north to the former ancient capital Hue, arriving mid afternoon.
Day 13 Monday 2nd May
Hue City Tour (B)
This morning you take a cruise by Dragon boat along the scenic Perfume River to the Thien Mu Pagoda and tomb of Minh Mang which is built around two lakes. On your return you freshen up at your hotel and then take a tour of the city and visit the Citadel which consists of three cinctures, the moated Citadel, the Imperial Enclosure, and the Forbidden City. It has an 11 kilometre perimeter with 11 gates and 24 watch-towers. If time allows we will also visit the bustling market.
Day 14 Tuesday 3rd May
Hue – Hanoi (B)
This morning you transfer to the airport for your flight to Hanoi. After booking into your hotel and freshening up you board a cyclo for a fun ride around the Old Quarter with its 36 streets which were named after the products sold and where for centuries peddlers have traded their wares. The remainder of your day is at leisure to shop and explore this historic city with its blend of French, Chinese and Vietnamese architecture. This evening you attend the world popular water puppet show.
Day 15 Wednesday 4th May
Hanoi City Tour (B)
This morning you visit several landmarks, including, the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the former Presidential Palace, the modest stilt house of President Ho Chi Minh, One Pillar Pagoda built in 1049, Hoan Kiem Lake (Lake of the Restored Sword) the Army Museum and former POW Prison “the Hanoi Hilton”. Your afternoon is at leisure to recharge the batteries, continue your sightseeing or shop for bargains.
Day 16 Thursday 5th May
Hanoi – Halong City – Halong Bay (B L D)
After breakfast you depart for Halong City and on arrival board your private boat for an overnight stay on Halong Bay. You will cruise amongst the rocky limestone Islands of natures wonder and disembark to visit the Thien Cung Cave which is one of the more spectacular grottoes. Bring your swimming gear; the boat will anchor in the calm waters of this scenic wonderland allowing you to swim in safety and privacy. May we suggest an overnight bag for the trip to Halong Bay; your other belongings can be left safely at your hotel in Hanoi.
Day 17 Friday 6th May
Halong City – Hanoi (B D)
After breakfast you disembark from the boat and board your bus for the return journey to Hanoi, stopping en route for a refreshment stop. After booking into your hotel your afternoon is at leisure to relax shop or continue your sightseeing of this historic city. This evening there is a farewell dinner.
Day 18 Saturday 7th May
Hanoi - Australia (B)
Your time is at leisure until you transfer to the airport for your flight home.
