Day 1 Tuesday 12th August 2008
Australia – Kuala Lumpur
Depart home States with Malaysia Airlines and overnight in Kuala Lumpur.

Day 2 Wednesday 13th August
Kuala Lumpur - HCM City (Saigon) (D)
You are met at the airport and transferred to your central city hotel. After freshening up you are taken on an orientation tour of this vibrant city. Your afternoon is free to laze by the pool or to visit the many shops and Markets. This evening there is a group welcome dinner.

Day 3 Thursday 14th August
Saigon City Tour (B)
Commencing your tour of this historic city you visit many landmarks, including the Post Office, Notre Dame Cathedral, built by the French in 1877, former Presidential Palace, War Remnants Museum, Cholon and the Binh Tay market, Father Tam’s Catholic Church where President Ngo Dinh Diem and his brother hid themselves in 1963, and the Ben Thanh Markets, where your bartering skills will be tested.

Day 4 Friday 15th August
Saigon - Vung Tau (B L)
This morning you journey south by hydrofoil to Vung Tau. After booking into your hotel you take a tour of this seaside resort and visit the White Villa, the fishing village located behind the hills and the former area known as “Flags”. After lunch at the hotel you visit back beach, although nothing remains of the Peter Badcoe Club or 1 ALSG you can visit the beach, now a Vietnamese favourite, and take a dip in the South China Sea. You will also visit the massive VC Memorial located where 1 ALSG once was. The remainder of the afternoon is free to relax by the pool or continue your sight seeing.

Day 5 Saturday 16th August
Vung Tau – Baria – Dat Do – Long Hais (B L)
After breakfast you travel northeast to visit the township of Baria, Dat, the Do Warrior graveyard the Long Hais and former Minh Dam Secret Zone. A boxed lunch is provided on a private beach with rest rooms, covering from the sun and relaxing beach chairs. On your return to Vung Tau your time is free to laze by the pool or continue your sight seeing.

Day 6 Sunday 17th August
Vung Tau – Long Phuoc - Nui Dat –Hoa Long (B L)
This morning’s travels take you pass what is left of the Horseshoe (the Horseshoe was mined several years ago and entry is no longer allowed) to the Long Phuoc Tunnels, the former Task Force Base Nui Dat and the township of Hoa Long. A boxed lunch is provided and you return to Vung Tau early afternoon.

Day 7 Monday 18th August
Vung Tau - Long Tan – Vung Tau (B)

Your morning is at leisure and this afternoon you attend the service at the Long Tan Battle field which commences at 3.40pm. You return to Vung Tau late afternoon.

Day 8 Tuesday 19th August
Vung Tau - Binh Ba - Saigon (B)
This morning you make your way back to Saigon via the village of Binh Ba. A refreshment stop is made and you should be back in the city of Saigon by lunch time. After booking into your hotel the remainder of your day is free. Grand Hotel

Day 9 Wednesday 20th August
Saigon – Cu Chi Tunnels (B L)
You travel northwest to this former underground VC village, stopping en route to watch rice paper being made. After lunch on the river you return to Saigon arriving back mid afternoon.

Day 10 Thursday 21st August
Saigon - Mekong Delta – Ben Tre (B L D)
You breakfast and then travel to Ben Tre on the Mekong Delta. After a refreshment stop you board your private motorised boat for a nearby Island. After watching toffee being made you take a short walk and board a small horse drawn cart to explore the Island. After a light lunch you board a small oared boat and travel along the picturesque canals to your motorised boat. You return to Saigon mid afternoon and attend a farewell dinner this evening.

Day 11 Friday 22nd August
Saigon (B)
Your tour ends and you transfer to the airport for your flight to Kuala Lumpur where you connect with your flights to your home State. Those joining the extension will board the flight to Danang

Day 11 Friday 22nd August
Saigon - Danang – Hoi An (B)
This morning you farewell Saigon and board your early flight north to Danang. You are met at the airport and driven the short distance south to the former trading port of Hoi An, which still retains the feel of centuries past. After booking into your hotel you take a walking tour along the narrow streets and cross the 400 year old Japanese covered bridge and visit ancient houses, galleries and a silk tailor shop. Mid afternoon you can relax by the swimming pool and this evening you might like to dine out in one of the many river side restaurants.

Day 12 Saturday 23rd August
Hoi An – My Son – Kim Bong – Hoi An (B L)
After breakfast you drive south west to My Son, located in Quang Nam Province. The Champa ruins of My Son date from the 4th to the 13th centuries and represent a series of constructions. Returning to Hoi An you stop at Cau Lau bridge and board your private boat for a cruise on the Thu Bon River to the Kim Bong wood carving village. After visiting the wood carving workshop, a local house and school, you may wish to take a bicycle ride along the paths of this scenic village. You then board your boat for the scenic cruise to Hoi An. After returning to your hotel your evening is at leisure.

Day 13 Sunday 24th August
Hoi An – Danang – Hue (B L)
This morning you take the short drive to Danang to visit the unique Marble Mountains. Providing the weather and your fitness allows you can at your pace make the long climb to the top and enter Huyen Khong cave. You will be rewarded with magnificent views of Danang, the surrounding mountains and China beach. Those unable to make the climb can visit the marble factory to learn how the statues are made. Next you visit the Cham museum with its artifacts dating from the 7th to the 15th centuries. After lunch you depart Danang and drive north to the former ancient capital Hue.

Day 14 Monday 25th August
Hue City Tour (B)
This morning you take a cruise by Dragon boat along the scenic Perfume River to the Thien Mu Pagoda and tomb of Minh Mang. After freshening up at your hotel you take an orientation tour of the city and visit the moated Citadel with its 10 kilometer perimeter and the bustling local market. Your evening is at leisure.

Day 15 Tuesday 26th August
Hue – Hanoi (B)
You breakfast and then transfer to the airport for your flight to Hanoi. After booking into your hotel and freshening up you board a cyclo for a fun ride around this historic city with its blend of French, Chinese and Vietnamese architecture. You will visit the bustling Old Quarter with its 36 streets which were formally named after the products sold and where for centuries peddlers have traded their wares. This evening you attend the world popular water puppet show.

Day 16 Wednesday 27th August
Hanoi City Tour (B)
Today you visit several landmarks, including, the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the former Presidential Palace, the modest stilt house of President Ho Chi Minh, One Pillar Pagoda built in 1049, Hoan Kiem Lake (Lake of the Restored Sword) the Army Museum and former POW Prison “the Hanoi Hilton”.

Day 17 Thursday 28th August
Hanoi – Halong City – Halong Bay B L D)
After breakfast you depart for Halong City, stopping en route at the Bat Trang Pottery Village. After boarding your private boat for an overnight stay on Halong Bay, you cruise amongst the rocky limestone Islands of natures wonder and disembark to visit the Thien Cung Cave which is one of the more spectacular grottoes. Bring your swimming gear; the boat will anchor in the calm waters of this scenic wonderland allowing you to swim in safety and privacy. May we suggest an overnight bag for the trip to Halong City; your other belongings can be left safely at your hotel in Hanoi.

Day 18 Friday 29th August
Halong City – Hanoi (B D)
After breakfast you disembark from the boat and board your bus for the return journey to Hanoi, stopping en route for a refreshment stop. After booking into your hotel your day is at leisure to relax shop or continue your sightseeing of this historic city. The Temple of Literature is worth a visit. This evening there is a farewell dinner.

Hanoi – Australia (B)
Late morning you transfer to the airport for your flights to Kuala Lumpur where you board your overnight flights to your home states.
